My wife and I made our annual trip to the Palazzo, and stayed three nights. (Sep 21st – 24th) We have always been very happy with our stays, but this trip had one “downer”. We arrived at around 3:30 on Monday, and quickly made our way through the short line at check in. We were told that the Non-Smoking / King room we reserved was not available. When we asked why…it was explained to us that there was a conference that week and all of the rooms were taken. We could have a room with two queen beds, or take a King room on a “smoking optional” floor. As this was a romantic get away for us, we were not interested in the double occupancy room. We decided to take the smoking room and was placed on the 9th floor. When we exited the elevator on our floor, we were quite concerned as the smell of smoke was very strong. We entered the room and as usual it was clean and well appointed. The smell of smoke was pretty faint and we decided to “tough it out”. By Tuesday afternoon my wife had a slight headache that lingered through the remainder of our trip. I believe it may have been caused by the odor in the hallways / room. Other than that – the visit was a nice one. Dinner and drinks at the Grand Lux is always a treat. We also picked up some nice items in the Canal Shoppes.
We are looking forward to another trip in March. Hopefully we’ll be assigned a room on a Non Smoking floor.
