I have stayed at Palace Station a few times. The staff are helpful and the casino and hotel are large. Here is the key…rent a car. Although located seemingly close to the Strip, it is across an Interstate and would be really hard if not impossible to get to on foot. With a car however, it is less than a 10 minute drive to either the Strip or Downtown, making the economical Palace Station an excellent possibility.
Their buffet is very reasonably priced at $10 pp for dinner. Don’t expect anything too fancy though. Still, it is a decent value.
The rooms are roomy and nice enough. Again, nothing extravagant but they’re clean and are more than enough room for a couple people. I have not stayed in the even less expensive courtyard rooms. Have only stayed in the tower section.
The casino itself is large but lacks any real character. One thing which is a very minor issue is I guess they’re known for their oyster bar which also serves fish stews and chowders 24/7. Surprisingly, there always seemed to be a decent crowd at the pull up bar. I have to say though, for me at 8am on a Saturday morning, the smell of boiling fish chowder was a bit nauseating.
