Our first trip to Vegas and we are so thankful we stayed in the Fremont/Downtown area, we enjoyed the action/environment much better than the Strip. We also lucked out and booked the BEST downtown hotel. Main Street Station Hotel is wonderfully charming, very “old school” Vegas. The rooms/maintenance aren’t perfect, but way better than you could expect for this price and an older hotel. We had a huge window with nice shutters looking out to the mountains, making for dramatic sunrises. Everything about the room was pretty standard, though the a/c was a bit loud. We ate some meals on the Strip, but most times came back to Main Street to eat at one of the hotel’s restaurants, they are both EXCELLENT. The only negative I can say is it is next to impossible to get a Coke instead of Pepsi not only this hotel, but the whole city of Las Vegas!
