We stayed in a suite this past weekend – bed very comfortable, room was well-appointed. Very hip and retro – quaint or vintage doesn’t do justice, we’re not talking velvet wallpaper here – the room was super stylish and comfortable. Bathroom doubled as a bar – don’t ask me how they pulled it off, but they did! Casino didn’t reek like some do. Very close to cool eats and drinks Downtown, which itself has undergone a renaissance and now presents a compelling alternative to the Strip. All in all, a fun place to spend the evening.
Golden Gate Hotel Casino
1 Fremont Street
Las Vegas, NV
With a heaping helping of turn-of-the-century Las Vegas charm, the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino offers a San Francisco vibe just steps from the Fremont Street Experience. Casino-loving travelers on a budget will eat up this Las Vegas gem, the first in the city to offer the now-famous “Original Shrimp Cocktail” inspired by the iconic Fisherman’s Wharf. Although the hotel opened in 1906, all 106 rooms have been remodelled to reflect a modern sensibility.
