At least the two nights I stayed there this was the case, however nice problem to have. I’m tired of people complaining about the casino, or other things that Tripadvisor reviews have covered before ad nauseum. It’s true you can get a ‘bad’ room, stay at a ‘bad’ time or get a rude employee or two but the point of this forum is to read these reviews and make an informed decision. So…with this hotel, yes I DID know in advance about the resort fees and, based on those added to the room rate it was easily still the best price for downtown for those days. Also, I knew the bathroom would be small, no surprise. The bed was super comfortable, TV actually Hi-Def with a Hi-Def signal as well. Wifi was in the resort fee (and they aren’t trying to hide that), just remember each 24 hour period you must log in, go through the motions to activate it again. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable, I did not find it noisy and even though I had to walk down a whole 2 floors to get ice, jeez it didn’t kill me. I’ve stayed here before, I’ll likely stay here again as the location is fantastic if you want to stay downtown. And I did gamble, just not here, and I ate an awful lot of food on my stay, just none of it here either. This is a hotel review, nothing more. Upon check-out, I just left my key in the room, didn’t even go to the front desk or use the TV. When I got home the resort fee was accurately billed to my credit card. Beats waiting in a stupid line-up.

With a heaping helping of turn-of-the-century Las Vegas charm, the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino offers a San Francisco vibe just steps from the Fremont Street Experience. Casino-loving travelers on a budget will eat up this Las Vegas gem, the first in the city to offer the now-famous “Original Shrimp Cocktail” inspired by the iconic Fisherman’s Wharf. Several more nods to San Fran are sprinkled throughout the hotel, including Bay City Diner, a casual place to enjoy blue-plate specials. Although the hotel opened in 1906, all 106 rooms have been remodelled to reflect a modern sensibility.
