Attended a very large conference and “all” casinos were either full or at the top end of the price scale. Seriously, early January I stayed on the strip at Treasure Island, for the conference the same room was 10 times the price!!. Most of my time was at the exhibition (8:30 through 5:30), then evening meetings from around 6:00 through 11:30, then to bed. These exhibitions “kill you”, so I wasn’t looking for a hotel room to spend any time in except sleeping. So, I looked off strip for a reasonable price. I found it at Eastside Cannery! In the upper two figures price range and a rating of 4.5/5.0 I gave it a try. Very pleased, 18 minutes from exhibition, due east, but you could spend that amount of time driving getting from the exhibition to a room 1/2 mile down the strip (taking in the time to park and walk through the casino to your room). Parking and check-in was the easiest ever in Vegas! Parking places 50 yards from the main door, then 25 yards to the check-in desk, no 200 yard walk meandering through the strip casinos dragging suitcases to the check-in desk. Very quick and polite check-in. Elevators just round the corner from check-in. There is a casino floor, obviously, but very open and empty, BUT.. it did smell of cigarettes (Very much so). This was reported in Hotels.com when I booked. However, off the gambling floor was sweet, no smell, the same with the corridors and especially the rooms (totally fresh). The room was very clean and modern, equivalent to any strip casino. The bed was comfortable and new fresh linen, and big towels (not postage stamp size). A great benefit was in the morning taking less than 10 minutes from room to car. About the rating 4.5/5.0 (Hotels, com). I assume this rating was by visitors who are used to staying in this class of hotel and not at the top end. e.g. The Vdara has 4.5, the Paris 3.9 so do others on the strip. In comparison I’d give it 3.5. BUT, a very good price for an exceptionally clean room and very good service. Plus, so easy to get in and out of with easy parking. If the rooms on the strip go through the roof again for my March visit, I’ll be back to the Cannery.
