Ok, so I’ll start by saying that I normally would have been the first to judge or laugh at someone who intentionally decided to stay on Fremont Street, as opposed to The Strip. The hotels generally are dated, a little sketchy, and all around not anywhere near as good as on The Strip.
I’m glad I gave this property a try. This property used to be the old Fitzgerald’s and they basically gutted it down to the bones and rebuilt it. The public areas and the rooms are fresh and new, with great furniture, very comfortable beds, and a fun modern, sexy feel. The views are excellent from higher floor rooms, the elevators are modern and efficient, the showers are incredible (definitely a “party shower” if you are into that kind of thing), and having an ipod dock in my room (Corner King) was a nice extra touch. The rooms are also really big, especially for Downtown. Aside from some unfavorable customer service experiences when making my booking over the phone (nothing serious, just kind of rude and abrupt with me), the service on site was exceptional. The front desk agents were great, the bell staff and valet staff are young, fresh, and ready to help. I was very impressed!
Ok, so there are a few things to be aware of though. When booking, you should definitely shell out the extra $$$ to be confirmed on a floor higher than 16. See the first 16 floors are on the Fremont Street side so you really get the noise from the Fremont Street experience, not a huge deal, but still…..the higher floored rooms are all further back on the property (the tower is kind of a split design) so they don’t seem to get the same noise. Also, the walls are paper thin….the girls I was travelling with, were up all night to a couple next door fighting until like 9 am….having said that, the security was very attentive and did what they could to resolve the situation.
All in all, this was a really great stay, and I would put this right at the top of hotels in the Downtown Area…like hands down, no contest, if you want to save a few $$ and stay Downtown, this is the ONLY logical choice!
Will definitely stay here again……
